This mindfulness centre in Cardiff says it can help people cope with anxiety and depression

There is a growing awareness of the benefits of mindfulness for people with mental illnesses like anxiety and depression.

Mindfulness is the practice of being highly aware of the present moment. Studies have shown that it can be just as effective as antidepressants at dealing with mental health issues.

Anthony Harris teaches mindfulness at Samye Foundation Wales, a wellbeing centre based in Cardiff. Anthony is a qualified psychotherapist and has practised meditation and mindfulness for some 38 years, so he has firsthand experience of its potential to help with mental illness.
